| From the Dogon Tribe of Mali. This fascinating piece is a multi-tiered storage bowl for special herbs or medicinal items. The top bowl is the female container; the horseman is the lid. The lower bowl is the male container; the top bowl is lifted off to access the bowl. Both bowls have interesting etched designs into the wood. The bowls are supported by six carved figures which in turn are being supported by two horses on the bottom tier. It is 60" tall by 15" in diameter. View the lower bowl. |
