From the Bamileke Tribe of Cameroun. This is truly a unique piece carved from one incredible piece of wood. The medicine man is sitting on a stool holding in his lap a very large bowl with a lid. The bowl has multiple lizard figures on the outside and three animal figures on the lid, the largest with its head rising off the lid. He has an assistant helping him hold the bowl in the front and is carved anatomically correct. The significance of this is that the bowl is used for storage of the kola nut, which the men chew. It is extremely high in caffeine and gives them a high......as well as lets just say that this is their form of natural viagara. This piece is 54" tall by 25" deep by 19" wide. View a closeup of the figure's head.
